SAN BERNARDINO – A San Bernardino man and dog were shot, both losing their lives on Saturday, San Bernardino Police officials said. This is the 32nd homicide in the City of San Bernardino already this year and the suspect(s) are still at large.
San Bernardino City School Police and City Police responded to a report at around 2:08 a.m. indicating that approximately 15 shots were heard on the 1200 block of North Berkeley Avenue.
School Police were the first on scene locating 30-year-old Calvin Boykins lying beside an open car door with multiple gunshot wounds, at least one being to his head. Boykins was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Also nearby on the porch of the home was a Rottweiler dog with a gunshot wound, the dog was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic by Animal Control where he died as a result of his injuries.
Berkeley Avenue was blocked from Baseline to 13th Streets to enable police to collect evidence.
