JURUPA VALLEY – Deputies from the Jurupa station arrested a San Bernardino man who was held at gunpoint by the 70-year-old resident who caught him attempting to break into his home on Friday.
The victim’s 63-year-old wife called to report the incident and said that they heard something outside of their home. Her 70-year-old husband sprung into action with his legally owned firearm to check what the sound outside of their Jurupa Valley home was. Once outside he found the suspect, who was armed with a crowbar, attempting to break into their occupied home.
The 70-year-old man held the suspect, later identified as Jose Rodriguez, 34, at gunpoint until deputies arrived around 4 minutes later. Rodriguez was arrested for burglary, possession of burglary tools, and an outstanding arrest warrant and was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.
Authorities are asking that anyone who has any information pertinent to the incident to call Deputy Hughes or Angeles at (951)955-2600.
