DAGGETT – A wanted criminal was arrested on Wednesday during proactive law enforcement in the area of First and King streets in Daggett. The deputy from the Barstow station made contact with a female, who was near a motorhome that had been dumped at an abandoned home. She cooperated with authorities and provided her personal information. She also identified the male subject inside the home as 50-year-old, Donald Clifford.
The deputy on scene was advised that Clifford was a transient with an outstanding warrant for his arrest. When the deputy attempted to make contact with Clifford, he refused to exit the motorhome. Additional deputies responded to the scene and Clifford subsequently exited the motorhome and was taken into custody.
Deputies conducted a search of the motorhome where they located a metal container with multiple baggies of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Clifford was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for his active warrant. Details of the complete investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and the possible filing of charges. A stolen vehicle was also located on the abandoned property and the owner of the vehicle was advised.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is urged to contact Deputy Mamon of the Barstow Sheriff’s Station. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-Tip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME (27463).
