ADELANTO – Although the percentage has not yet determined and planning is still in the works, the City of Adelanto Mayor has decided that a portion of the proceeds for the Adelanto Rodeo will be going to the victims of the Blue Cut Fire.
Mayor Richard Kerr was one of the hundreds of people in the community who helped those in need of animal evacuations during what was one of the area’s worst fires in recent history. During these evacuations, Mayor Kerr realized that more needed to be done.
“I have never been so proud to be a resident of the High Desert as I was after seeing the community come together as we did, from first responders to business owners, to everyday citizens and the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds’ staff,” said Kerr.
Hoping that this step will inspire others to do similar to benefit the fire victims, Kerr shared the plan with the Adelanto Rodeo Committee and City staff. “We will be taken donations through our city’s non-profit Adelanto Community Benefit Corporation and a portion of the profits from the rodeo will be set aside to assist in rebuilding the lives of our High Desert residents affected by the Blue Cut Fire,” said Kerr.
The National Police Rodeo Association (NRPA) last year had over 3000 attend raising over $3500 for the Wounded Warrior Project. This year, the 2nd annual NRPA is scheduled for October 21-22, 2016.
