ADELANTO – An Adelanto man and woman were arrested for torturing a victim by running water over her face as they held her in a bathtub.
On Monday, March 20, 2017, a deputy from the Victor Valley Station arrived at the 18800 block of Dogwood Court in the City of Adelanto. The deputy went to the home to follow up on a report of child abuse reported in last August.
While at the home, the deputy learned that Kathey Nicole James, 34, and Nicasio Alquisira, 29, suspected a woman of taking a cell phone. James struck the victim repeatedly in the face and pulled her hair, then took her into the bathroom and placed her in the bathtub. She sat on the victim and Alquisira held the victim’s feet and legs. Authorities said that James turned on the water which ran over the victim’s face.
The investigating deputy learned through investigation that the two suspects planned the act. Several children who lived in the home were taken into protective custody. James and Alquisira were arrested on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, and were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for conspiracy, torture, and false imprisonment. James is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and Alquisira was released on bail.
