VICTORVILLE – One man and one teen were arrested for the shooting death of a 20-year-old Victorville man. At 7:20 p.m. on Saturday evening deputies from the Victorville station responded to the report of a man shot at the location. When deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived at Brother Liquor located at 15517 Village Drive they found Kalon Dawson, 20, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Dawson was transported to Victor Valley Global medical center, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later. Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation. The investigation included witness interviews and video surveillance recording. Surveillance footage corroborated the suspect description as described by the witnesses.
Hours later at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, investigators responded to the Mojave Village Motel where they located two males who matched the suspects description. Eric Walton, 18, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody. Deputies searched the suspects finding a handgun in their possession
Detectives obtained a search warrant and searched the room for evidence. Both suspect Walton and the juvenile were interviewed and arrested for murder. Walton is due in court on Tuesday afternoon.
