Adelanto Man Arrested for Armed Robbery, Carjacking, and Kidnapping
VICTORVILLE – An Adelanto transient was arrested for robbing a male victim at gunpoint late Sunday morning.
At around 11:07 a.m. Victorville Station deputies responded to the report of a robbery in the 14000 block of Amargosa Road in the City of Victorville. When they arrived they learned that David Robert Soto, a 33-year-old convicted felon, approached the victim and robbed him of his personal property while armed with a handgun.
“Once he had the victim’s personal property he got into the victim’s car and ordered him to drive to his bank where he would be made to take money from his account and give it to the suspect, said Victorville Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The suspect noticed a citizen witnessing what was occurring and fled from the car on foot.” Deputies were able to located Soto near Palmdale and Borego Roads. Soto continued to flee on foot, but after a short foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. The suspect was found in possession of a handgun and the victim’s belongings.
Soto was booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on September 25, 2018.
