VICTORVILLE – A 25-year-old Adelanto man was badly injured after crashing his motorcycle while leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit through Victorville and Apple Valley on Wednesday night.
At around 10:30 p.m. a deputy from the Victorville station attempted to stop a motorcycle that was riding a high rate of speed eastbound on Bear Valley Road. The motorcycle stopped at a red light at Bear Valley and Hesperia Roads. He looked back and saw the deputy following and accelerated through the red light to continue through Bear Valley Road.
The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, using his emergency lights and siren, but the motorcycle continued. The motorcycle went through Victorville, Apple Valley and entered the southbound I-15. The sheriff’s helicopter, 40-King7 assisted deputies as the ground pursuit was terminated just south of Main Street, due to the high rate of speed. The helicopter continued to follow the motorcycle to Highway 138 and back into the High Desert.
“At approximately 11:23 p.m., the driver, later identified as Sean Watson, crashed the motorcycle on the Main Street overpass in Hesperia,” Victorville Sheriff’s station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said. “Deputies from the Hesperia and Victor Valley Stations were on scene quickly to assist in detaining Watson and requested medical aid. Watson suffered multiple fractures and other injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was admitted.”
The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and filing.
