ADELANTO – An Adelanto man, suspected of killing another Adelanto man in March was arrested in Arlington, Texas on Sunday authorities said.
The shooting occurred in the 11200 block of Chamberlaine Way in the City of Adelanto on Monday, March 20, 2017, just after 8:00 p.m. Authorities were notified by a 911 caller who stated that there was a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. When deputies from the Victor Valley Station arrived, they located Joshua Jermaine McGinnis, 36, of Adelanto injured and rushed him to the hospital. Due to the life-threatening nature of McGinnis’ injuries, Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Hours later, at 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, McGinnis was pronounced dead.
Detectives learned that Johnny Lavelle Brown, 37, was the suspect involved in the shooting that led to the death of McGinnis. Authorities were unable to location Brown, but recently learned that he fled to a home in Arlington, Texas. Law enforcement officials, along with US Marshalls and Arlington Police, on September 6th located Brown at a home in the Heather Glen Townhomes and took him into custody without incident. On September 10th, homicide detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to Fort Worth, Texas and took custody of Brown. He was transported back to San Bernardino County and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC187 Murder.
