ADELANTO, Calif. – A former client who has benefited from the organization’s work was arrested for her involvement in the theft of numerous donated products.
On Wednesday, March 22, 2019, an unknown suspect forced entry into the Swapping Mama’s Clothing Closet location in the City of Adelanto. The organization’s representatives told deputies that the suspect stole around $1000 worth of diapers, clothing, detergents, and cleaning products that the nonprofit was planning to sell at a reduced price to the community. The incident was reported to authorities and through investigation Amanda Darlene Thomas, 31, of Adelanto, was determined to be in possession of the stolen items.
On Thursday, May 30, 2019, at around 9:35 a.m., just over a week following the burglary, Victor Valley Station Detectives served a search warrant at Thomas’ home located at 11844 White Avenue in the City of Adelanto. Thomas was subsequently arrested for Accessory to Burglary and Receiving Stolen Property. She was booked at the West Valley Detention Center and has since been released as a result of a “court-ordered release” per inmate records. There are no court dates scheduled at this time.
Around $600 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the nonprofit organization.
