APPLE VALLEY – An Apple Valley man was apprehended after a dangerous pursuit on Thursday morning authorities said. At around 9:20 a.m. deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to the 20000 block of Nisqually Road in the Town of Apple Valley for the report of domestic violence and robbery.
When deputies were en route to the location, they witnessed suspect, Michael Dewayne Miller, 35, of Apple Valley, who is on felony probation, in a large white Ford 4X4 truck. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop to make contact with Miller. “During the contact, Miller suddenly sped away, leading Deputies on a high-speed vehicle pursuit through the town of Apple Valley and onto the I-15 freeway,” Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station officials said. “During the pursuit, Miller drove into oncoming traffic, ignored traffic devices and sped through construction zones at a high rate of speed.” Miller sped north on the southbound 1-15, subsequently colliding with a commercial truck on the 15 freeway near E Street. He got out of the vehicle and fled on foot but was taken into custody shortly after.
The uninjured, suspect Miller was not done attempting his escape. He was taken to the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station where he attempted to escape custody. Miller was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for Domestic Battery, Felony Failure to Yield, Robbery, Attempt Murder and Attempt Escape. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday, April 16, 2018. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
