VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A 20-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested for two robberies meeting both victims on OfferUp.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, deputies responded to two separate calls reporting robberies, both with similar circumstances, authorities said. Shortly before 11:05 a.m., suspect Demarion Xavier Smith allegedly went to a home on Arvila Drive where the victim was selling shoes posted on OfferUp. The second victim also had shoes posted on OfferUp and lived on Nyack Road, where Smith also allegedly went shortly before 12:36 p.m. While meeting at both victim’s homes, Smith grabbed the shoes out of the victim’s hands and fled in a silver BMW.
The investigation led authorities to identify Smith as a suspect. On Wednesday, July 10, 2019, deputies noticed a silver BMW traveling on Amargosa Road near Palmdale Road. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and Smith was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for robbery. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Friday, July 12, 2019.
The second suspect, also a black male adult has not yet been identified, and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Deputy J.
