APPLE VALLEY – Authorities are asking for the public’s help to locate an Apple Valley area transient who is wanted for stealing mail.
The mail theft suspect, later identified by Apple Valley Station deputies as Craig Alan Jones, 34, was viewed on social media through residents reporting mail theft with security camera footage. The footage went viral, leading to the identification and a search warrant served at the last known residence for Jones in the 20000 block of Rimrock Road in the Town of Apple Valley.
The search was conducted on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at around 11:40 p.m. During the search stolen property was recovered and the bicycle used in the thefts was located. Jones was not at the residence and now authorities are asking for the public’s help to locate him. Jones is known to be in the Apple Valley area and is currently on probation.
Anyone with information about this case, or the whereabouts of Craig Alan Jones, should contact Deputy Greg Teplansky or Sergeant James Evans at the Apple Valley Police Department at (760)240-7400.
“As a reminder, Apple Valley Police urges everyone to be especially mindful when receiving packages at home during the holiday season and to report suspicious activity,” said Apple Valley Police officials.
