APPLE VALLEY – A 29-year-old mother was arrested for attempted murder after attempting to smother her 4-year-old son with a pillow on Tuesday.
Authorities were notified after a mother and son, who were driven to the St. Mary’s Medical Center by family members at around 12:15 p.m. Staff reported to deputies that the mother, Patrice Mcnay explained she had smothered her child. Family members told the hospital staff that they were concerned about Mcnay’s mental health because of the attempted murder of her children.
Apple Valley Detectives served a search warrant at the home of Mcnay in the 22500 block of High Vista Place in the Town of Apple Valley. Through investigation, evidence of the crime was located and they determined that she attempted to harm the 7-year-old child in the past. Children and Family Services were notified and removed the children from the home. They were transported to Loma Linda Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. The children did not require hospitalization.
Mcnay was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Attempted Murder. She is being held in lieu of $1,000,00 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Thursday.
