VICTORVILLE – A 36-year-old Victorville man was arrested for kidnapping after he became involved in an altercation with his girlfriend on Sunday evening.
On Sunday, June 9, 2018, at around 8:30 p.m. Victorville station deputies were dispatched to the area of Mojave Drive and El Evado Road. When they arrived they made contact with the female victim, and witnesses, that had a male subject, later identified as Joel Salcido detained. Through investigation, it was learned that the couple had begun arguing inside the Rite Aid store located in the 14500 block of Mojave Drive.
“Salcido grabbed the victim and forced her out of the store,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “He was then seen forcing her into a field near the store. She was said to have been screaming and resisting.” Witnesses followed and assisted the victim. They were able to detain Salcido until deputies arrived. Salcido was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Kidnapping and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
