Armed San Bernardino Man Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A San Bernardino man is deceased after an officer-involved shooting on Sunday night.

At around 11:00 p.m., San Bernardino Police responded to the 200 block of E. 4th Street for a domestic disturbance involving a weapon. When officers arrived, they contacted 31-year-old Sokhom Hom, in the area of 4th and Allen Street. Hom was armed, agitated, and yelling police officials said. Officers attempted to calm him down and asked him repeatedly out the gun down, but the suspect became increasingly agitated.

Officer deployed less-lethal beanbag rounds and tried to tase the suspect. Neither attempt was effective in subduing the suspect. Police officials said that the suspect then attempted to cause great bodily harm leading to the officer firing at the suspect. Medical aid was provided by the officers as the ambulance was en route. Hom was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:25 a.m.
