HESPERIA – One man is fighting for his life and the second was killed after a shooting on Thursday evening. Deputies responded to the 15600 block of Hesperia Road in the City of Victorville. When they arrived they located the two men, Daniel Flury Sr. and Daniel Flury Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds.
Daniel Flury Sr., 59, died at the scene and Daniel Flury Jr. suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. Stacy Flury, the daughter of the deceased victim and sister from the injured victim said that Daniel Flury Jr. was shot 6 times and continues to fight for his life.
Through investigation, authorities determined that David Salazar, 22, was a suspect in the shooting. An arrest warrant was issued and on Friday afternoon contact was made with Salazar, who was leaving a Hesperia home near Live Oak Street and Timberlane Avenue. As deputies approached Salazar, he pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun from his pocket, pointed it under his chin and threatened to shoot himself. Salazar began to walk away while holding the handgun under his chin. Deputies followed pleading with him to drop the handgun. Salazar shot himself in the face near Timberlane Avenue and Pine Street. Medical aid arrived and he was transported to a trauma center. He is expected to survive his injuries.
He was absentee booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.
The family is in need of assistance for the burial of Daniel Flury Sr. and has started a Go Fund Me Account. Investigators believe the handgun recovered from Salazar is the same handgun used to shot the Flury’s.
