RANCHO CUCAMONGA – The District Attorney’s office is seeking the whereabouts of a man accused of making terrorist threats to several Rancho Cucamonga campus Universal Technical Institute (UTI) students. The 18-year-old Newbury park man was charged yesterday with two felony counts of making the terrorist threats, two felony counts of stalking and one felony count of falsely reporting a bomb, officials said.
“In today’s world, we have an obligation to take these types of threats seriously for the sake of not only the students and staff at UTI, but for all citizens,” said District Attorney Mike Ramos. “This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated.”
On June 13th a report was made to the Rancho Cucamonga Police indicating that Albert Maida threats to students over the past few weeks. The school suspended Maida and called the police to report the incidents. An arrest warrant was issued for criminal threats and a search warrant was made for his Ventura County home. Four days later, on June 17, Maida was arrested. Several firearms were located in the home of Maida during the search. Maida was arrested and held on $50,000 bail, and was bailed out.
Charges have been filed by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office and an arrest warrant was issued for the arrest of Maida on Thursday. If convicted, Maida will face four years and four months in prison.
