RIVERSIDE, Ca. – A 20-year-old male pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, police said.
On Monday, August 19, 2019, at around 8:25 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Indiana Avenue, east of Jackson Street. Authorities said that the 19-year-old old man from Riverside was crossing from the south to the north side of Indiana Avenue when a vehicle driving eastbound struck him. The vehicle did not stop, and continued driving eastbound on Indiana Avenue. The vehicle was described as a dark blue or black Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.
The badly injured pedestrian was rushed to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The pedestrian has been identified as Marcos Figueroa.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and is currently investigating.
