VICTORVILLE, Ca. – Authorities are asking for the public’s help with information regarding a fatal hit-and-run collision on Monday morning.
At around 5:46 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Station, the Victorville Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded to the area of Seventh Street and East Sand Street for the report of a hit-and-run with injuries. When they arrived they found 37-year-old Victorville resident, Jesus Aguilar Santa Cruz, lying on Seventh Street with extensive injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through investigation it was learned that Santa Cruz was struck by a southbound traveling vehicle on Seventh Street that continued driving southbound after the collision. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. Seventh Street, between Lorene Drive and West Sage Street were closed until 11:00 a.m. for the investigation.
The cause for the collision is still under investigation and no suspect has been identified.
