LOS ANGELES – Authorities are seeking the whereabouts of a 30-year-old inmate who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Richard T. Tarin was received by California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) from Los Angeles on November 27, 2013, after being sentenced for five years and eight months for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Great Bodily Injury. Tarin, who was set for a November 2018 release, was placed to the MCRP from California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo on April 3, 2018. Removal of his electronic monitoring device alerted his authorities to his escape on Saturday at around 2:00 p.m. Immediately, they conducted an emergency search
An emergency search was conducted after being notified that Tarin removed his electronic monitoring device at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. “Notification was immediately made to local law enforcement agencies,” CDCR officials said. “Within minutes, agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were dispatched to locate and apprehend Tarin.” Tarin is 5’9” and weighs around 178 pounds.
Anyone who sees Tarin or has any knowledge of his whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911.
The Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) allows offenders to serve the end of their sentence in the reentry center, which provides programs such as substance use disorders treatment, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support so that they can better transition into the community. This program becomes available when inmates reach their final 15 months of their sentence.
