WHITEWATER – The weather is getting warmer and the thought of finding local water to cool off in is getting more desirable to residents. The Cabazon Sheriff’s Station would like to remind citizens that the Whitewater River near Whitewater Canyon Road and on either side of Interstate 10 is off limits due to the extreme dangers. The flow of the water fluctuates reaching up to 700 cubic feet per second, which can be life-threatening if a person is swept away by the current.
No trespassing signs are marked clearly, those choosing to ignore these signs will be subject to a citation and possible fines. In addition to the water dangers, the potential for hazardous fire conditions makes parking along Whitewater Road prohibited. The Cabazon Station encourages visitors who would like to visit the Whitewater Preserve to use Whitewater Canyon Road to access the location.
Anyone with information or concerns can contact the Cabazon Sheriff’s Station at 951-922-7100 or after hours and on weekends at 951-776-1099.
