UPDATE: On October 10, 2019, at approximately 11:00 a.m. missing child Jace Pletcher was found safe on the 800 block of Roberts in Oildale. The suspect, Eric Truman, was arrested.
The child will be transported to the hospital to be checked by medical staff.
BAKERSFIELD, CA. – A 2-year-old Kern County child was kidnapped by a man related to his father and authorities are asking for the public’s help to find him.
Authorities were made aware that the boy was missing just after 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. When they arrived they were told that Eric Truman, a 37-year-old transient, took Jace Pletcher, 2, from his home. He was last seen carrying the boy in the 100 block of Regal at 6:30 p.m. Truman was not allowed to move the child from the home. Kern County Sheriff’s have search areas which Truman has been known to frequent, including abandoned homes and homeless encampments.
Authorities do not believe that Truman has access to a vehicle. The child, Jace Pletcher was last seen wearing a maroon shirt and dark pants. Truman is 6′, 170 lbs, bald with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt with black pants.
KCSO requests anyone with surveillance to check their footage to see if they captured anyone matching this description.
