BARSTOW, Calif. – A Barstow man and woman were arrested for the possession of methamphetamine for sale last week.
On Friday, May 10, 2019, at around 3:47 p.m. following surveillance of the mobile home located at 1525 Main Street in the City of Barstow a search warrant was served. The search was a result of the sale of methamphetamine of the home, officials said. Upon arrival at the home, police made contact with Martin Contreras-Miranda, 54, and Esmeralda Fontanez-Rodriguez, 45, both of Barstow.
Both Contreras-Miranda and Fontanez-Rodriguez were detained while the officers made entry into the small single-wide mobile home. During the search, officers located thirteen plastic baggies containing methamphetamine packaged for sales. Officers also located empty plastic baggies, three digital scales, and a sum of U.S. currency in various denominations.
In addition, officers located live ammunition in the home. Both suspects were transported to the Barstow Police Department and subsequently transferred to the High Desert Detention Center. “The officers processed the scene and collected the suspected methamphetamine, scales, baggies, U.S. currency, and live ammunition,” Barstow Police officials said. “A criminal history check of the suspects revealed that Contreras-Miranda is a convicted felon and is prohibited for possessing ammunition.”
Contreras-Miranda was subsequently booked for Health and Safety Code 11378(a) – Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale and Penal Code 30305(a)(1) P.C.- Felon in Possession of Ammunition.
