BARSTOW – A Barstow man returned to his home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at around 6:40 a.m. to find an unknown man and woman inside his home.
The man called 911 to report the burglary in progress. He told dispatchers that he arrived at his home to find the two inside his home in the 300 block of North Second Avenue. Police arrived at the home and made contact with the victim. He told officers that the two were still inside the home. The victim opened the door for officers to go inside. Officers ordered the two suspects out of the home. The suspects identified as Amber Rewerts, 33, and Kevin Jimenez, 23, exited the home. Through investigation, the officers learned that the victim left his home the night before locking all of his doors and windows. When he returned, he unlocked the door to find the man and woman inside his home.
Officers noticed pry marks on the front door of his home and saw the wooden door frame was broken in order to gain entry into the home. The officers also found that the home was ransacked and several items that were inside the home were taken out of the home stacked by the backyard fence line. Authorities believe that the suspects were gathering the property that they planned on taking with them. The two suspects were taken to the Barstow Police Department and were later booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Residential Burglary.
