BARSTOW – A Barstow woman and a 15-year-old boy were arrested for the shooting of 18-year-old man authorities said.
The shooting occurred on January 31, 2018, at around 11:13 a.m in the area of Second Avenue and Williams Street. When officers from the Barstow Station arrived they made contact with witnesses who reported that a Black man was shot by a Black juvenile who was seen leaving in a dark blue Dodge Magnum. The officers did not immediately find the victim of the shooting but later learned that he was being treated for a gunshot wound to his ankle. Officers went to Barstow Community Hospital where the victim, identified as Jermonte Dickerson, 18, was being treated. Dickerson was confirmed to be the victim of the shooting.
Through investigation, it was determined that the incident was a result of the juvenile believing that Dickerson had somehow disrespected Krystle Gardner, 36, a relative to the juvenile. The incident led to the shooting and Gardner, the driver of the blue Dodge Magnum driving the juvenile out of the area. Both Gardner and the juvenile were arrested on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, for Attempted Murder. In addition, Gardner is also facing Child Endangerment charges as a result of the incident.
