LOS ANGELES – A 62-year-old basketball coach at the Alpine Recreation Center in Chinatown was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison for the sexual assault of a player.
Tony Wong invited the victim to play for his team when he was 14-years-old. The boy accepted his invitation, then between January and August 2004, he sexually molested the boy at the recreation center and in hotel rooms when the team traveled. In May 2017, Wong pleaded no contest to three counts of Lewd Acts Upon a Child. Wong was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
