CORONA – A retired K9 from the Corona Police Department was put down earlier this week. ‘Gauss’ served from January 2008 through January 2014, during which time he had a very impressive record.
“He had several apprehensions and suspect finds, over 250+ narcotic finds which included 60+ pounds of heroin, 45 pounds of methamphetamine, and over $200,000 US currency,” said Corona Police officials. “He also did 100+ public demonstrations at schools, church groups, hospitals, K9 shows, and here at the Police Department for various community groups.”
Gauss retired and went to live with a loving Norco family for over three years where he enjoyed running and playing with his family. K9 Gauss was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, and on Monday, May 22, 2017, he lost his battle. His family put him down so that he would not have to suffer. K9 Gauss was 13 ½ years old.
