Society may fit you into the middle-aged group, but you’re not old yet; are you? We mustn’t forget that the 50 is the new 30; or is it 60 now?
AARP— the American Association of Retired Persons shocked many of the 1990’s hit series Beverly Hills 90210 fans when Luke Perry, who starred as Dylan McKay graced the cover.
Of course, Luke Perry was older than the others who starred in the series when he began playing the part of Dylan McKay in 1990 at 24-years-old. McKay played a bit of a rebel who valued his alone time as well as time with his West Beverly High friends hanging out at the “Peach Pit”, a 50’s style diner.
AARP chose to celebrate Perry’s 50th birthday on October 11th by placing him on the cover of their magazine. AARP is targeted toward readers aged 50-plus. Dylan McKay, the high school student Perry played still would have to wait an additional 8 years before being considered for placement on the AARP cover, as he would just be turning 42-years-old.
