At around 11:34 a.m. Moises Chequete was struck from behind as he walked northbound on Santa Fe Avenue East, north of Mission Street. The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Benjamin Harrity of Hesperia attempted to leave the scene but a witness followed and he was taken into custody shortly after at C Avenue and Yucca Street.
