FONTANA – A Fontana school was placed on lockdown after a Riverside, Criminal Threats investigation led to the area of Canyon Crest Elementary School at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The police presence led to speculation by those on social media causing alarm among parents and residents in the area. “Our investigation does not have any relation to any schools within Fontana, and at no time was there any danger to students, parents, or staff,” Riverside Police officials said. “The suspect just happened to pull in front of the Fontana elementary school as our officers were making contact with him.”
As a precaution, the administrators placed the school on lockdown due to the police presence in the area. The Fontana School Police also arrived at the school to meet with the Riverside Police personnel. The suspect was taken into custody. The school has been deemed safe and regular scheduled activities resumed.
