COMMERCE – A former Commerce Aquatic Center swimming coach was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl. Steven Matthew Garcia, 28, pleaded no contest to one felony count of Lewd Act Upon a Child and one misdemeanor count of indecent exposure. As part of his sentencing, he will be required to remain registered as a sex offender for his entire lifetime.
Garcia was arrested after the small child disclosed that she was fondled by him in the employee lounge at the aquatic center.
