A Vietnamese condom company representative responded to the accusation of selling used condoms by ensuring that the condoms were boiled before resale.
Earlier this week, Vietnamese police said that nearly 800 pounds of used condoms, around 345,000 condoms were removed from the facility located in the southern province of Binh Duong. Vietnam Insider said that the used condoms were littered across the floor of the large warehouse where the condoms were being boiled then hung to dry and reshaped on a dildo. The conditions where the process took place was called “unhygienic” by authorities. Once the process was complete, these condoms were repackaged and sold as new to the hundreds of thousands of people in Vietnam who depend on condoms for protection against STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and/or the prevention of pregnancy.
Vietnamese officials said it is unknown how many of the used condoms had already been sold when the warehouse was raided. The owner of the facility and an unidentified woman at the location were detained, but any pending charges are not being released at this time.
