VICTORVILLE – A 26-year-old Victorville man was arrested for stabbing a couple multiple times as the slept in an apartment in the 14900 block of Arlette Drive.
At around 3:36 a.m. authorities and emergency medical personnel responded to the apartment home after receiving the report of a stabbing. When they arrived they located a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both with multiple stab wounds. Deputies learned that the two victims were staying in the suspect, later identified as Jimmy Donald Smith’s apartment and for unknown reasons as they slept he began stabbing them multiple times. They escaped, rushing over to a neighbors apartment home seeking help.
“Deputies made entry into the suspect’s apartment and found him hiding in a closet, still in possession of the knife used in the stabbings,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. “The suspect refused to comply with orders, leading deputies to use necessary force to detain him.”
The victims were airlifted to a trauma center for the treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time. Jimmy Kendall Smith was taken to the hospital by ground ambulance for treatment of undisclosed injuries resulting from the incident. He will be booked into the High Desert Detention Center when released.
