MURRIETA, Calif. – As part of a plea deal on Thursday, February 14, 2019, a Temecula man pleaded guilty to intentionally stating the Cranston Fire in Idyllwild/Mountain Center in July 2018.
Riverside County District Attorney’s office representatives said that the original charges against Brandon McGlover, 33, were amended following the preliminary hearing in November 2018. As a result of the evidence presented, including witness testimony, the charges were
McGlover entered a guilty plea to two counts of burning a structure or forest land. As part of the plea bargain, seven other counts against him were dismissed. McGlover was sentenced to 12 years and four months in state prison, which is the maximum sentence allowed for the two counts and admission of the allegation.
McGlover was also ordered to pay restitution to all of the victims. On July 25, 2018, McGlover was charged with nine fires, the largest of the nine being the Cranston Fire. The Cranston Fire destroyed more than 13,000 acres.
