DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Six were injured as a result of a traffic collision believed to be caused by a drunk driver on Thursday night.
At around 8:20 p.m. officers from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department responded to Ironwood and La Mesa Drives regarding the collision. When they arrived they noticed two vehicles that sustained major damage and a parked vehicle that sustained damage as a result of flying debris.
Three juveniles and one man were transported by ground to a local hospital, where they were treated and released with minor injuries. A male adult passenger was critically injured and a woman suffered moderate injuries. The driver of one of the vehicles, Brandon Byers, 23, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.Byers was booked into the Riverside County Jail for DUI causing injury.
