A Nevada doctor was arrested on Wednesday, for illegally selling prescription drugs at a Victorville medical office.
The doctor, who specialized for nearly 40 years in anesthesiology and pain medicine, was accused of selling Oxycodone and Alprazolam, also known as Xanax, without a legitimate medical purpose to undercover operatives who visited his Victorville office located at 14075 Hesperia Road. A search was served in his Victorville office in 2014, during which time he surrendered his medical license.
Wendell Mark Street, 66, of Las Vegas was arrested without incident by the Drug Enforcement Administration Department of Justice officials said. He will face ten counts, which were heard by and returned by a grand jury on February 9, 2018. In the past, Street also had an office in the 11300 block of Mountain View Avenue in Loma Linda.
The counts include five counts each of distributing Oxycodone and Xanax. The prescriptions were allegedly sold in 2013 in exchange for cash, “outside of the usual course of his professional practice and without performing any type of physical exam” officials said. He did this in exchange for $200-$300 in cash from two undercover investigators with the California Medical Board and an informant. Street will face up to 20 years in prison for each of the five Oxycodone counts and up to five years each for the Alprazolam (Xanax).
