FONTANA – The owners of a German Shepherd dog named Luna were very worried when she went missing on July 2, 2017. Luna’s owners kept up on her tags helping Fontana Animal Service Officers to find her home when she was found 17 days later!
Luna is happy to be home and her owners were so happy to have her back home. “Luna could not stop kissing her owner,” said Fontana Police officials. “She was a little thin and timid but otherwise in great shape” Dog tags and chips are essential in the reunification of pets and their people.
Although according to the ASPCA, nearly 49% of dogs and a 30% of cats are found by their owners searching their neighborhood and additional 15 percent are returned home because of an ID tag or microchip. Microchips are widely available at animal shelters, animal hospitals, and some pet supply stores many times for only around $10-$25.
