TWENTYNINE PALMS – Dozens of neglected animals were located at a Twentynine Palms on Friday. At around 12:05 a.m. Morongo Basin deputies responded to the 75100 block of Mayfair Drive for a welfare of a juvenile living in the home. When they arrived deputies contacted a male at the location who confirmed that child did live at the home.
Around 25 dogs, 1 pig, 1 rooster and around a half a dozen reptiles were located inside and around the home. Animal Control was called to the home and it was determined that the animals were not being properly cared for. Animal Control seized the animals and took them to the shelter. Brooke Smith, the owner of the home was not at the home and was unable to be contacted at the time of the investigation.
