ADELANTO – A 68-year-old Adelanto man was arrested for the continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 years old. On the afternoon of Monday, August 1, 2016, Alan “Rusty” Bursby was arrested in the City of Adelanto after being interviewed by Victor Valley station deputies.
The report was initially made on Monday, May 16, 2016, when the female juvenile told the reporting party that she was molested by Bursby while living in Adelanto. Evidence recovered during the investigation supported the allegations that the victim was repeatedly molested by Bursby.
Bursby is accused of being involved in “substantial sexual conduct” on or around July 30, 2007, through July 30, 2012, while he lived in the same home as the victim. The District Attorney’s criminal complaint states that Bursby engaged in at least three acts each of substantial sexual conduct and lewd and lascivious acts with the female child who was 6 to 11-years-old during this time period.
Prior to his arrest, Bursby was living in apartments on the 18400 block of Montezuma Street but it is unclear where the abuse took place. Bursby has also been employed as a maintenance worker for several apartment complexes in the Victor Valley.
Bursby is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $350,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon for an arraignment hearing.
