HESPERIA – A 38-year-old Hesperia man was arrested after assaulting an elderly man on Monday. At around 3:30 p.m. the two men got into a verbal altercation. The argument escalated and Jonathan Wilcox assaulted the 72-year-old man.
“The victim later came to the Hesperia Police Department to report the assault,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Jaclyn Chambers. “The victim suffered injuries to his upper body from the assault.” The injuries sustained were minor and it is unknown if the elderly victim required medical care as a result of the assault.
Wilcox was arrested in the 15200 block of Sycamore Street later that day. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Elder Abuse and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
