PALMDALE, Ca. – A 71-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Palmdale, early Wednesday morning.
Palmdale deputies were dispatched to the area of 10th Street West and Marketplace Drive in the City of Palmdale at around 4:20 a.m., this morning for the report of a vehicle versus collision incident. When they arrived they found the elderly pedestrian deceased at the scene and the involved vehicle. The pedestrian died as a result of major head injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Camry remained at the scene and was cooperative throughout the investigation. It was determined through investigation that the pedestrian was crossing 10 Street West. The driver was driving northbound on 10th Street West and did not see the pedestrian, who detectives learned was crossing against the red light.
No indication of alcohol or drugs involved in this incident.

Northbound lanes of 10th St. West at Marketplace Dr. were closed to routine traffic until 8:00 am while the incident was being investigated.
