PLACENTIA – A homeless Brawley man was arrested after shaking his way into a sliding glass door of a Placencia home belonging to an elderly woman.
At around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Placentia police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Powell for the report of a burglary in progress. A sergeant arrived within one minute and several other officers arrived shortly after. The officers surrounded the perimeter of the home and a search for the suspect who was believed to be on foot on the Alta Vista Golf Course. The suspect, identified as Robert Jensen, 39, was located near the 7th hold off Alta Vista and was taken into custody.
When officers spoke with the elderly woman, who lived in the home alone, she told officers that she was sleeping in her downstairs bedroom when she woke up and hear the shower running. She went outside to call the police. Through investigation, it was learned that the suspect shook his way into the door, which released the lock. Once inside, he snuck past the sleeping woman and went to take a shower. The suspect left some clothing inside the upstairs bathroom and left with a wallet and jacket that was inside the home. Jensen was arrested for residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
