VICTORVILLE, Ca. – An eldery woman was shot by deputies after coming to her door armed with a shotgun on Saturday.
Authorities said that at around 9:34 a.m. they received a report of possible intruders in the 17800 block of Sunburst in the Spring Valley Lake area of Victorville. When they arrived Betty Francois, 91, opened her front door and had a shotgun. Francois was commanded to drop the weapon but she, according to deputies, continued to point the gun toward them. At least one of the deputies shot at Francois causing injury to her. Francois was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where she is being treated for the gunshot wound.
Per deputy-involved shooting protocol, the Specialized Investigations Division responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
