COLTON, Calif. – Stolen property was recovered after it was listed on the OfferUp App, authorities said.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, deputies from the Rural Crime Task Force learned that a stolen concrete tamper was being sold on OfferUp. Authorities said that the equipment was stolen from Sunstate Equipment in Colton in April 2019. A deputy arranged to meet with the seller in Highland.
“ Deputy Oakleaf inspected the concrete tamper and determined it to belong to Sunstate Equipment Rentals,” San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said. “The person selling the concrete tamper had purchased it at a low price with the intent to re-sell the item.” The concrete temper valued at $3400 was returned to Sunstate rentals.
Authorities said that the concrete temper was one of several pieces of equipment stolen during the theft including chainsaws, and concrete power hammers. Anyone with information related to this theft or equipment is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Rural Crime Task Force or WE-TIP Hotline.
