APPLE VALLEY – Three were arrested after a Facebook post led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the suspects involved in the theft on Sunday. The victim reported the 1994 Honda Accord Stolen at around 8:19 a.m. Deputies arrived to take the report from the victim entering it as a stolen vehicle and putting in an area-wide broadcast of the vehicle description.The victim of the theft also posted photos of the stolen car on Facebook.
Just after 1:00 p.m. that afternoon dispatchers received a report that a witness who saw the Facebook post believed he saw the vehicle in the parking lot of the Big Lots Store located on Bear Valley and Navajo Roads.He told Sheriff’s dispatchers that the car had the same specified details as the stolen vehicle. Three suspects, later identified as 25-year-old William Boone, 39-year-old Daniel Lovejoy and 24-year-old Liana Dirlam got out of the vehicle and walked away, The witness provided details about the whereabouts of the suspects while waiting for the deputies to arrive.
Deputies arrived a short time later and attempted to make contact with the suspects. Lovejoy, who was out of custody on PRCS-Post Release Community Supervision (AB109) cooperated with police. Diram, who had two outstanding arrest warrants for drug and traffic violations attempted to walk away while Boone, who is on active parole, after being released from prison in 2015, ran from the scene across Navajo Road.
The three were taken into custody and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. The victim responded to the scene to recover his vehicle. “The witness declined to wait, he explained he was empathetic to the victim’s situation, but merely wanted to help and did not need any recognition.” the Apple Valley Station officials in the news release. “Apple Valley Station would like to commend this citizen who took the time to report, we thank you for your keen observation skills, and willingness to help your fellow citizen.”
