SAN BERNARDINO – A 42-year-old Colton woman lost her life after a traffic collision on Saturday, July 23, 2016. The collision occurred when a Ford Mustang ran a red light at the intersection of Mt.Vernon Avenue and Mill Street at the border of San Bernardino and Colton. The Mustang slammed into a Nissan Armada sending it into a nearby utility pole causing extensive damage and the fatal injury.
The woman, later identified as a well-loved mother of three, Maria Flores Guerrero was pronounced dead at 7:53 a.m. at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Maria leaves behind one son, daughter, granddaughter, and other family members who love and adored her.
“Everyone knew just how hard she worked for us ever since my dad passed away in 2001,” said her daughter, Senia Guerrero. “She was lovable, had the biggest heart, and was always kind.”
Maria was a cosmetologist and also worked as a caregiver for Senia’s daughter, who had a kidney transplant. “My daughter is six, it hurts her really bad, she was my baby’s best friend,” added Senia.
Maria’s sudden death came as a shock to the family who did not even have a chance to say goodbye before her life was rapidly taken by a driver who was suspected to be under the influence. The family is asking the community to help to give their mother the proper memorial service and burial that she deserves.
If anyone is willing to help this family, who so suddenly had their mother, grandmother and friend taken from them they have set up a Go Fund Me Account.
Family and friends have also set up a car wash and Taco sale on Saturday, July 30, 2016, to help raise the funds needed. The car wash will be held at Amapola Rico Taco on 6th Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue and begins at 7:00 a.m. Volunteers and supplies are welcomed and appreciate. The Taco Sale will start at 5:30 p.m. at 499 Jackson Street in the City of Colton. They will also be serving Aguas Frescas, Sodas, and Bottled Water.
