SAN BERNARDINO – A young San Bernardino man lost his life after being shot in the 1400 block of N. Sepulveda Avenue in the City of San Bernardino. Just before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, Sheriff’s officials were dispatched to a “shots fired” call. When they arrived they located Orland Mayweather, 19, suffering from upper body trauma consistent with a gunshot wound.
Mayweather was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 7:42 a.m. he died as a result of his injuries. “His death was devastating to our family and we are hurt beyond words,” said Mayweather’s cousin on the Go Fund Me page. “We want to send him home the right way, with the love, support, and prayers of everyone.”
The family of Oland Mayweather said that he was shot attempting to aid a woman involved in a domestic violence assault. The family said that he demanded that the spouse of the woman stop, which angered the assailant, leading to the shooting of Mayweather.
