SANTA ANA, Ca. – The father of a 2 week old baby boy was arrested for abusing the child leaving him with broken bones and other major injuries, police said.
The newborn was rushed the Children’s Hospital of Orange County when the mother woke up to find the child badly injured. At the hospital he was found to have a fractured skull, injuries throughout his body and face. The child also had internal injuries and had methamphetamine in his system. The newborn remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Jonathan Reyes is the baby’s biological father who was watching the baby while the baby’s mother was sleeping. Reyes told authorities that he was using methamphetamine when he was watching the baby, but did not abuse his newborn. Reyes was arrested and booked into jail for child abuse. He will also be charged with committing a crime while he was out on bail for a March 2019, robbery.
