PASADENA – A 30-year-old Pasadena man was charged with assaulting his son’s youth baseball coach after his son was benched on Tuesday.
During the game, the defendant, Miguel Angel Mejia got into a verbal altercation with the coach over his son being benched at the Villa Park game. Mejia then allegedly grabbed a bat and swung it at the coach. Other parents intervened, preventing the assault.
Mejia is being charged with a single felony count of assault with a deadly weapon and if convicted as charged may face up to four years in prison.
